"As a recent (May 2018) transplant to Pagosa Springs from Minneapolis, Minnesota, I am quite familiar with Texan Red McCombs. I therefore was quite amazed to learn, soon after moving here for retirement with my wife, that old Red still darkens my horizon. I cannot imagine allowing a 'village'
like that of Telluride, owned or rented by wealthy out of state ski season 'occupants', to exist in the gorgeous and pristine Wolf Creek pass area. It would cause massive disruption to the ecosystem, crowded conditions and a serious drain on infrastructure. My wife and I enjoy hiking and skiing the Pass and it is a major reason we moved here. The idea that Forest Service personnel are so corruptible as to grant access to construct a road so that this development can enrich the already too rich and ancient Red McCombs and his family and fellow investors is enough to make me consider selling my home and retiring elsewhere. Why should the concerns of middle class hard working retirees and property owners like myself and my wife matter less to the County than a Texan like Red? Or Texan Kelsey Warren, who likewise is attempting to enlarge his huge Boot Jack Ranch by exchanging some scrub in Chromo for 'grazing' as well as trying to build a reservoir on his land. Ancient water rights for 'ranching' have no business taking priority over the needs of an entire area, especially one threatened by a megadrought. We say NO to it all!!!"
